Cartels can exist if high-ranking officer accept bribes

SHAH ALAM - Cartels in the police force can exist if high-ranking officer compromise with bribe givers.

Former Inspector -General of Police, Tan Sri Musa Hassan said, often bribe givers will send a middleman first to deal.

"He will 'approach' who can negotiate, if we refuse to serve then it will not happen and vice versa," he said at the Busters Corruption Compass Program entitled 'Corruption Punishment Is Still Light' which was broadcast on the Sinar Harian platform on Wednesday.

SHAH ALAM - Current economic pressures and failure to control financial resources are among the main causes of a person getting caught up in acts of corruption.

Senior Lecturer of the Department of Economics and Financial Studies, Faculty of Management and Business, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Puncak Alam, Dr Mohd Rahim Khamis said, every individual should be wise in controlling financial resources and not spend according to lust.

He said, an individual needs to know to use existing money or income to meet the demands of life.

SHAH ALAM - The law of leaders using money allocated to the people as sacrificial contributions is not necessarily in accordance with Islamic law.

Penang Mufti, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Salim Wan Mohd Noor said, among the legal conditions for sacrificial worship is that the animal is sacrificed perfectly and does not depend on the rights of others.

Wushu coach charged with 10 counts of sexual assault on minor

PUTRAJAYA: A wushu coach was charged in the sessions court here today with 10 counts of sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl who was his student.

Gjeblehim Bong Teck Fuu, 31, a former national athlete, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out to him before Judge Wan Aima Naziha Wan Sulaiman.

The offences were alleged to have taken place last February at a house in Taman Kajang Mewah, Kajang, Selangor. The charges were framed under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 read together with Section 16 (1) of the same Act, which provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping, if convicted.

The court allowed the accused bail of RM15,000 with one surety and set July 25 for .....

Petronas junior exec among nine nabbed over RM2.3bil graft case

KUALA LUMPUR:The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today confirmed the detainment of nine individuals since April 8 to assist in its investigation into claims of corruption related to a project at Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB).
In a statement, it said that one of the nine was a junior executive at PCSB while the eight others were the owners and senior officials of contractor companies and vendors which had carried out projects linked to the alleged corrupion.
“The commission would like to clarify that one of the nine individuals detained to assist in the investigation is a junior executive at PCSB and not the CEO as claimed by some parties.

Nicky Liow arrives at Shah Alam courts to faces charges

SHAH ALAM
: Businessman Nicky Liow Soon Hee has arrived at the Shah Alam Courts on Tuesday (April 12) morning to face multiple money laundering and commercial crimes charges.
Liow - dressed in a black shirt and black pants - was brought to court handcuffed and heavily guarded, and is expected to face 26 charges involving RM36mil.
However, it is unknown if all the charges against the 34-year-old Liow will be read in a single courtroom or in several here.
Liow, who had been on the run from the police for over a year, surrendered himself at the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) in Jalan Tun Razak at 11.00am on Monday (April 11).....

JAIM raids restaurant selling food to black plastic gang

MELAKA:
A restaurant in Peringgit, here, was raided by Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) enforcement officers after it was believed to be a spot for the black plastic gang (non-fasting Muslims) to buy food during the month of Ramadan.
In the raid carried out this afternoon, two restaurant workers who acted as 'ulat' or delivery man were issued with notices.
 
  
JAIM director Datuk Che Sukri Che Mat said the operation dubbed Op Plastik Hitam Menggelegak was conducted following intelligence work carried out since the first day of Ramadan.

Perak airport land sale: MACC to call up several individuals to help probe

IPOH: The Malaysian Anti -Corruption Commission (MACC) will call up several individuals to assist its investigation into the alleged sale of land for the building of an international airport in Seri Iskandar.
Perak MACC director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohamad, when contacted by Bernama, said the individuals concerned would be called to record their statements beginning this week.
 
"The MACC has obtained documents on the issue and will start calling witnesses involved to record their statements," he added.
Prior to this, Mohd Fauzi was reported to have said that the investigation was conducted upon receiving an official complaint on the matter from Manjoi assemblyman.....
